Join Art Mentors at our Huntington Beach studio to sculpt world-class models during our open figure sculpting sessions. Practice your sculpting skills and mingle with fellow students and the Art Mentors staff.
This class is uninstructed, but it’s a great chance to meet up and practice your skills in front of a live model. Fine artist and instructor Joshua Jacobo will be hosting the event every Saturday, and will be available for help and critiques.
Sculpting stands are provided for students to work on, but please bring your own clay and sculpting tools.
We hope to see you there!
Provided materials:
Rolling Modeling Stand
Slow cookers and electric skillets for heating clay
This is an open class so any materials are fine, but here are some recommendations:
For sketch models, harder self-supporting materials are recommended such as microcrystalline wax, Roma Plastilina #2 or #3. It’s best to avoid armatures of dissimilar material for these days. Bring enough material for 1/6th scale figures. For longer poses we recommend working at 1/4 scale. If you’re using a firm armature and want a softer working material we recommend Roma Plastilina #1 with an aluminum armature or a wax or modeling compound like Cx5 with a bespoke armature created on the day from the same materials.
Sales are non-refundable but in some cases we can switch a student’s enrollment in a class that has not yet started to another class of equal or lesser value. Art Mentors reserves the right to cancel, limit enrollment, substitute instructors or models, reschedule, or modify a class without notice to enrolled students. If a class is canceled, enrolled students will be given a refund. If an instructor is unable to finish a class term, a refund will be given to students at a pro-rated amount.
