Chris Legaspi is a fine artist and instructor with over 30 years of drawing and painting experience. In this class, students will learn a simple-to-follow approach to draw realistic and life-like portraits from start to a fully-rendered finish. Along with lay-in and structural techniques, Chris will share insights on creating likeness, and how to add story, emotion and depth to your drawings.
This class assumes no prior knowledge. We take head drawing back to fundamentals including planning your portrait, staging and making compositional thumbnails, analyzing the sitter, creating a rough lay-in, establishing good structure, and separating light from shadow. Each week Chris will lecture on various topics and demonstrate his approach using a range of materials. Chris will give one-on-one feedback and guidance to all Full Access participants who choose to send in their work.
As an online participant, you will work from high-resolution photos that will be provided on the class page each week. Unlike in traditional classes, the online format allows you to work at your own pace. You can pause and rewind as much as you want, giving you the ability to absorb information at a speed that you set for yourself.
All participants will receive access to the class recordings for 6 to 12 months, depending on which plan you choose. We hope you join us!
