Sheldon Borenstein has over 33 years of classic animation, storyboard illustration, anatomy, and master figure drawing experience. This unique set of skills has enabled him to work in a vast number of areas providing his expertise and knowledge where needed. In this class, Sheldon will teach landscape painting. The lesson plan will be designed for both the hobbyist painter as well as the professional, and will cater to all levels of expertise. Sheldon will cover the essential elements of landscape painting, including composition, design, values, color, and story. Sheldon will use a variety of painting media, and will show you how to create everything from a small sketchbook design to a large-scale painting on canvas. He will help you to find your own voice as an artist, and emphasize the importance of creating a story within the image. Sheldon will be using examples from film and animation to illustrate various landscape design elements throughout the class. You will benefit from Sheldon's generous teaching style as he provides informative lectures and many different demonstrations each class. Sheldon will spend much of the time working one-on-one with students, so you can get the most out of the material he has covered. You will be provided with beautiful high-resolution DrawThis!™ reference images of landscapes all over the world to work from. This class is IN-PERSON ONLY at our studio in Huntington Beach, CA. There will be no video recordings of this class to purchase online. You can attend all 8 weeks of this class for $399.

Sheldon Borenstein has over 33 years of classic animation, storyboard illustration, anatomy, and master figure drawing experience. This unique set of skills has enabled him to work in a vast number of areas providing his expertise and knowledge where needed. He has worked on television shows including: Fat Albert, Tom and Jerry, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. His feature film experience includes: Space Jam, Quest for Camelot, Fern Gully, and Swan Princess. He worked as an art director for marketing agencies as well as doing illustrations in the art department for aerospace programs. He has 18 years of experience in advertising working as an account executive managing large print advertising projects. He also was a consultant for a variety of fields including: video games, education, and most recently homicide.
In addition Sheldon has 30 years of teaching experience. He has given lectures at schools throughout the country. He taught a training program for Warner Bros. feature animation that involved training over 100 new recruits and employees. He also taught at Warner Brothers’ United Kingdom, Disney Animation, Denmark, and Texas locations. He taught classical figure drawing at California State University Northridge for two years. He has over 16 years of teaching experience at San Jose State University where he is currently teaching figure drawing and anatomy for animation.
Sales are non-refundable, but in some cases we can switch a student’s enrollment in a class that has not yet started to another class of equal or lesser value. Art Mentors reserves the right to cancel, limit enrollment, substitute instructors or models, reschedule or modify a class with notice to enrolled students. If a class is canceled, enrolled students will be given a refund. If an instructor is unable to finish a class term, a refund will be given to students at a pro-rated amount.
