Learn to paint beautiful landscapes outdoors with Ben Fenske, one of American Artist Magazine’s Best 25 Living Artists, during a special 3-day in-person workshop.

Whether you are a beginner or a professional, Ben Fenske will help you to take your landscape painting to the next level.

Ben will cover many topics including arial perspective, construction, linear perspective, values, composition, color mixing/vibration, clouds and skies, and forms/planes to name a few.

This workshop will be held at renowned plein air painting spot, Santiago Oaks Regional Park*. Students will benefit from Ben’s generous and informative mix of lectures and one-on-one guidance.

NOTE: This workshop is IN-PERSON ONLY. Space is limited, and seats fill up quickly. Don’t wait to register!

* Weather permitting. If weather makes painting outside impossible on a given day, the workshop will be moved to our indoor studio in Huntington Beach where students will work with Ben from high-resolution reference material.

Product Description

Ben Fenske is an oil painter in the spirit of the 19th and 20th century impressionists. His work, which features brash and suggestive brushstrokes, delights in light and color and is regularly exhibited in shows across the US. Fenske has been the subject of countless national articles, notably the American Artist Magazine which included him as one of the Best 25 Living Artists in 2012.

Students must bring an easel, sketch/notebook, oil colors, canvases or panels (one per day), brushes, a medium cup and palette. A more complete materials list is available to download from this page.

This workshop takes place outside. Please come prepared! This workshop is 3 days long, from 9 AM to 3 PM. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Please bring your own lunch. About The Instructor

Ben Fenske

Ben Fenske (b. 1978) although a native of Minnesota, and has been working and living in Sag Harbor, New York and Florence, Italy for the last 7 years.   An oil painter in the spirit of the 19th and 20th century impressionists, he often chooses informal and contemporary scenes with an implied narrative.  His work, which features brash and suggestive brushstrokes, delights in light and color and is regularly exhibited in shows across the US. Fenske has been the subject of countless national articles, notably the American Artist Magazine which included him as one of the Best 25 Living Artists in 2012.

Materials

Unless otherwise specified in the product descrtipion, students are responsible for obtaining all required materials.

Cancelations

Art Mentors reserves the right to cancel, limit enrollment, substitute instructors or models, reschedule or modify a class with notice to enrolled students.

If a class is canceled enrolled students will be given a refund. If an instructor is unable to finish a class term a refund will be given to students at a pro-rated amount.

Refunds

Sales are non-refundable but in some cases we can switch a student’s enrollment in a class that has not yet started to another class of equal or lesser value.
