Danny Galieote is an expert in drawing, painting, and art theory. In this class, Danny will teach students to advance their work to the next level by focusing on rhythm, structure, value relationships, and harmony and movement within the pose.
Along with informative lectures and demonstrations, Danny will work with students individually, providing feedback and tracing over their drawings. Online-only students will also submit their work to get critiques directly from Danny.
All students will receive online access to the recording of the lecture portion for one year. This is helpful to reinforce the principles of each week, and to catch any concepts you may have missed the first time around.
Also included with your enrollment in this class is FREE access to our Drink and Draw sessions! Drop in during any Sunday session to draw world-class models while enjoying great wine, snacks and music. Practice your drawing skills and mingle with fellow students and the Art Mentors staff.

Danny Galieote was born in Los Angeles, California and has been working out of his studio professionally in LA for well over 20 years. He attended several colleges of art, including Art Center College of Design, California Institute of the Arts and California State University Northridge. He has been an instructor of figure drawing and painting at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design, The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and at the Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he had worked for several years as one of their top artists. Galieote has painted scenes of everyday life in America with mastery of the human figure and the environment in which they inhabit. His work has been inspired by the American Scene Painters, the Regionalists and the WPA Artists of the 1940’s, however, he has mixed those with his love for the great Italian Renaissance artists along with the pop imagery in the world he sees today. The aim of his work has not been to search for nostalgia, but rather has been in pursuit of universal, timeless themes of human nature. In 2014, Galieote’s paintings depicted the secret or intrusive thoughts that we may harbor but not act upon. This inspired his “Bad Girl” series, which portrays otherwise innocent looking women holding brass knuckles or other instruments of danger. His latest work has been written about as being Figurative Pop Surrealism or as Magic Realism. Galieote exhibits at several galleries across the U.S. and his art is collected worldwide. In the past few years, he has had several successful shows at Arcadia Contemporary in New York City.
