Artistic Anatomy with Steve Huston (ONLINE) – Fall 2018

In this intense, 3-day online workshop from master artist Steve Huston, you will learn how to use the skeleton and underlying structures of the human anatomy to inform your figure drawing, with a special emphasis on the joints, hands, and feet.

You will learn how bones come to the surface, how muscles group together, how they create shape, and, as the figure articulates, how they change shape. Thinking of these underlying structures as the framework that supports the figure will bring solidity and stability to your drawings.

Steve Huston’s works are poetic, poignant, and masterfully powerful. He has been an extraordinarily effective mentor whose instruction and guidance have produced an impressive number of accomplished acolytes.

In this workshop, students will learn the orientation of the limbs, how to approximate the internal skeleton of the figure, and how to overlay muscles and skin to produce a finished, thought-out figure drawing.

Students will work from high quality model photos that will be provided on the class pages. You can watch the recordings on your own time and at your own pace.

All students will receive online access to the workshop recording and reference images for 12 months. This is helpful to reinforce the principles of each week, and to catch any concepts you may have missed the first time around.

NOTE: Students will have access to all the workshop recordings for 12 months and may download all reference images to keep. But since this workshop is recorded, students will not be able to submit work for critique from the instructor.
