From Paper to Canvas with Joseph Todorovitch (ONLINE) – Winter 2019

In this 10-week online pre-recorded class, you will learn how to go from a drawing to a finished painting with professional figurative artist and portrait painter, Joseph Todorovitch.

In the first half of the class you will a tonal approach to drawing that focuses on value massing and the importance of design in shape and edge in relation to the form. You will train with a procedural approach, which forces you to work simple, then gradually progress to more complexity.

The second half of the class will be devoted to applying this approach to painting and analyzing the connection between the two mediums. You will start by working monochromatically with black and white and over time color and color theory will be introduced. This will help students paint with more freedom and understanding

As an online participant, you will work from high-resolution photos that will be provided on the class page each week. Unlike in traditional classes, the online format allows you to work at your own pace. You can pause and rewind as much as you want, giving you the ability to absorb information at a speed that you set for yourself.

All participants will receive access to the class recordings and reference images for 12 months!

NOTE: Students will have access to all the class recordings for 12 months and may download all reference images to keep. But since this class is recorded, students will not be able to submit work for critique from the instructor.
