This unique, 8-week, multi-discipline class guides students through a comprehensive process for designing creatures both on paper and in three-dimensions using clay.
You will learn a professional design workflow that begins with idea generation, sketches, utilizing silhouette as a design tool. You will be creating multi-value thumbnails as well as learning how to "kitbash" silhouettes. You will learn how these design processes can be iterated (systematically repeated) to develop your designs, as well as the process of research and reference gathering.
After this initial design phase, you will bring your creature design into three-dimensions by sculpting in clay an anatomically constructed model. You will have the fun and challenging task of building your creature from the ground up, beginning with the underlying armature, gesture, and skeletal structure, then layering muscle groups, subcutaneous tissue, and lastly surface texturing.
Coming soon. Expect to spend approximately $30 on supplies.
